Celebrating the first European vote for more repairable products

We recently called attention to the current voting season at the European level that can crucially affect the repairability of our products. When we arrived in Brussels to “welcome” delegates with a broken fridge, key sections of the measures were in doubt.

After the result of this first vote, we are celebrating, as important repair provisions were defended by a handful of member states, and supported by all.

Yet we fear that community repair groups (members of the Open Repair Alliance), as well as DIY repairers, may be excluded from access to spare parts and documentation.

The voting season will continue until the 10th of January. You can find more details on the European Environmental Bureau website.
